dining chairsThis aged technique is so easy it’s brilliant!  This is a great example of what you can do to make a new piece of furniture fit with the furniture you already have.   Jennifer needed her chairs to have a darker aged effect rather than the white washed effect to blend with the dining table she already had.  She bought the chairs at TJMaxx ~ wow I love what they get sometimes, and these are very nice, quite my style 😉  as I really like upholstered chairs for the dining room.  But when you shop at TJMaxx you have to be quick to get it when you see it, or it’s gone for sure if you wait — just a warning!

These are so precious!  Wooden gift tags… giving a touch of rustic cabin, long ago and far away.  All you need for this is some old branches that have dried out and a mitre saw.  I’ve been wanting to make some Druid runes from branches but wasn’t sure how to slice the wood into thin pieces,  I love that Diana shares her secrets with us!

how to make a safety pin braceletSeveral years ago, a friend of mine came to my house with a big bundle of goodies and said “Let’s make safety pin bracelets”.  I’d never heard of it, but she had already made a few and knew just what to do.  We dove in and it was so easy and I was surprised at how cute it looked.  I still wear that bracelet and get a compliment every time!  Usually I’m asked what it is made of and when I say safety pins they are just as delightfully surprised as I was.   This is a very inexpensive jewelry craft and makes for a sweet personalized gift.

Supplies List :
* glass beads of your color choice
* large safety pins
* elastic (the thin round type, white or black depending on your bead colors

Steps:
1) Fill the safety pins with the color combinations of beads you want
2) once you have them all filled with the beads, thread them through 2 lines of elastic  (as shown in picture 3)

TIP: make sure you put the safety pins one facing up and the next one facing down, and so on. this is so that the length and width of the bracelet is equal.

3)once you are happy with the length, tie a knot on one end, and another one to the one you already made.

That’s it in a nutshell!

For a gift, pop it into an organza bag and voila ~ a very sweet gift!

This has got to be one of the cutest ideas for using a pallet to create a vertical herb garden, especially if your space is tight.  I just love vertical gardens anyway.  I think the thing that sets this one off so good is the script lettering ~ Zina just takes it up to a whole new level with this.  If you can’t free hand then you can enlarge some script from your computer and use transfer paper to transfer the design then get a paint pen at the craft store and carefully paint over the lettering.  Do not seal with poly because the poly will lift the acrylic paint.  Find a spray acrylic sealer for the best results.
